About-Us

The 2nd Monday of the month is our competition night.

  • Our Competition Program is available from our website.
  • There are 3 grades, Advanced, A and Open. Open Grade is usually for beginner photographers and for those members who just enjoy taking photographs without doing extensive editing.
  • We have photos presented both in print form as well as Digital (EDI) option. (EDI – Electronic Data Images)
  • Both Digital and Print contests require you to enter online on this website and include a digital copy of each entry. This will be displayed in an image gallery on the website
  •  All photographs are displayed and critiqued by the judge on the night. Most judges provide very beneficial feedback, from which we all learn
  • At the end of the year we run our “Photo of the Year”competition (POTY). The photos entered in this competition must be photographs that have been entered in competitions throughout the year.

The 4th Monday of the month is our tutorial night.

  • We have had many and varied tutorials and continue to do so every month.
  • Suggestions from members as to what tutorials they would like to have are very welcome.

The 1st Monday of the Month is Special Interests group night

  • Members choose their own interest subject to collect 4-10 images on.
  • This is not for competition but to allow members to explore their own photography journey.

Visitors are always welcome to come along however visitors cannot enter any competitions until they become a member of the club. Follow the link under About us for info on joining.

Results PSA Interclub Rd 1 Photojournalism

Who would have thought that our best result in Round one came in PJ, traditionally not our strongest genre. We sit in equal second place.

Congratulations to Susan, Marie and David on their well deserved awards.

That wraps up the results for the first round. The Round two comp buttons are now active on the website.

Some eagle eyed readers may notice that Marie’s image scored higher than David’s yet received an HM award and not a Merit award. In the judging process, the three judges complete their scores individually and the top total scores are then considered for the awards. It is then that the judges discuss the images and distribute the awards and that can mean that a lower scored image can be elevated to a higher award.

Changes to 2024 Competition Calendar

We have made some changes to 2 of our set subjects in our monthly competitions for 2024.

The changes are as follows:
Our April competition will no longer have “Leading Lines” as the set subject.
Instead April will now be focusing on “Australia”.
Colour will be – “This is Australia Colour”
Mono will be – “This is Australia Mono”
Set Subject will be “Australian Landscapes”

Guidelines: The image can depict anything that says “Australia” eg. events, people, food, places, buildings, culture and more, as long as the image has a strong Australian theme.

Our “Leading Lines” set subject will be moved to August.

For 2024 we won’t have a “Scapes” set subject.

These changes have been made in order for us to have some “Australian” themed images ready for the Australia Cup, (which is the theme “Australian”), deadline in May.

Therefore, as well as our regular Club competition awards for this month some of these images will be selected for the Australia Cup entry  2024.

The amended “Competition Calendar” for 2024 will shortly be uploaded to our website.

Please make note of these changes.

Thank you for your understanding.
