About-Us

The 2nd Monday of the month is our competition night.

  • Our Competition Program is available from our website.
  • There are 3 grades, Advanced, A and Open. Open Grade is usually for beginner photographers and for those members who just enjoy taking photographs without doing extensive editing.
  • We have photos presented both in print form as well as Digital (EDI) option. (EDI – Electronic Data Images)
  • Both Digital and Print contests require you to enter online on this website and include a digital copy of each entry. This will be displayed in an image gallery on the website
  •  All photographs are displayed and critiqued by the judge on the night. Most judges provide very beneficial feedback, from which we all learn
  • At the end of the year we run our “Photo of the Year”competition (POTY). The photos entered in this competition must be photographs that have been entered in competitions throughout the year.

The 4th Monday of the month is our tutorial night.

  • We have had many and varied tutorials and continue to do so every month.
  • Suggestions from members as to what tutorials they would like to have are very welcome.

The 1st Monday of the Month is Special Interests group night

  • Members choose their own interest subject to collect 4-10 images on.
  • This is not for competition but to allow members to explore their own photography journey.

Visitors are always welcome to come along however visitors cannot enter any competitions until they become a member of the club. Follow the link under About us for info on joining.

Fees are :

$40 for year if commencing in June -September; If join later the following fee applies: $30 October- December; $20 January to May

June Competition

We had another great night at camera club last night for our May competition. I can’t believe that the year is getting away so fast!

Our judge last night was Peter Ryan. Peter did an outstanding job of judging. He was though in his comments which I’m sure all members will have found very helpful.
He was also very entertaining.
Thank you very much Peter… expect the call for our 2025 judging.

Congratulations and well done to all our members on so many fabulous images.

Important- Please note.
Our next competition night will be on Monday 3rd June. It will start at 6:30 and we ask that prints be on the stands at 6:00 pm
This change of date from our normal 2nd week of the month is needed as the club does not allow us to have our meetings on public holidays.

All our June entries, both digital and print are due to be uploaded by 11:59 pm on Saturday 1st June.

Our set subject for June is “Self Portrait”.
Definition:
A self portrait is just that. A photo of yourself. It could be a straight shot or a “character shot” using props and/or composite techniques.
It can be a full body shot showing an environment, an upper body shot or a head shot. The subject (yourself) should be prominent in the frame.
The important thing is that there should be no assistance from anyone else in capturing the image.
This subject is chosen to get you comfortable in front of the camera and to practise using your tripod and shutter release device or camera self timer as well as learn about lighting a portrait.

As well as the set subject we have our usual Colour and Mono categories in both digital or Print format.

Please remember that we can only enter 3 images in total.

Please also remember we can only put in 2 entries per section (colour, mono and set subject).
We could choose 2 prints or 2 digitals or 1 print and 1 digital per section.
Remember print and digital for each section is one category.

Our judge for June is Graham Cam. We haven’t had Graham as a judge before. He comes highly recommended.

Graham will be travelling from the Blue Mountains area.
Mike and Elisabeth Fidler had kindly offered to host Graham at their home.

I don’t have a BIO for Graham, but as he is very well know in photography circles a quick google search should give you some insight into his photography.

Good luck with your “Self Portraits”.

Start time for Monday 13th

Just a friendly reminder that our competition night’s now start at 6:30 pm.

It would be appreciated if everyone with print entries could please have them on the stands by 6:00 pm. We do understand that this might be difficult for some members.

We’re hoping to see as many of our members as possible on Monday night.
