about-us

The 2nd Monday of the month is our competition night.

  • Our Competition Program is available from our website.
  • There are 3 grades, Advanced, A and B. B Grade is usually for beginner photographers.
  • We have photos presented both in print form as well as Digital (EDI) option. (EDI – Electronic Data Images)
  • Both Digital and Print contests require you to enter online on this website and include a digital copy of each entry. This will be displayed in an image gallery on the website
  •  All photographs are displayed and critiqued by the judge on the night. Most judges provide very beneficial feedback, from which we all learn
  • At the end of the year we run our “Photo of the Year”competition (POTY). The photos entered in this competition must be photographs that have been entered in competitions throughout the year.

The 4th Monday of the month is our tutorial night.

  • We have had many and varied tutorials and continue to do so every month.
  • Suggestions from members as to what tutorials they would like to have are very welcome.

Visitors are always welcome to come along however visitors cannot enter any competitions until they become a member of the club. Follow the link under About us for info on joining.

Print service

For those who don’t have a photo quality printer I can print your photos for you up to A3. I am finding that I am not using my printer enough which means I have to keep cleaning the heads therefore I need to print more. I will print members photos for the cost of ink and paper which I roughly worked out to be about $5 for A4 and $8 for A3. I use Epson premium gloss for colour and Illford Gold Mono Silk for black and white. My printer, Epson R3000, has 3 blacks. You can email the photo or call around and I will do it on the spot. I will be away in August.

Other papers I have on hand are: Smooth Gloss, smooth pearl, cotton artist textured, Gold Fibre Gloss, textured cotton rag and smooth cotton rag

Hocus Focus July 2016

As there are a few people having trouble finding the Hocus Focus it would appear I didn’t explain the location too well.

If you click on “For members” on the main menu it will show a drop down menu list. At the bottom is one labeled “Newsletters” if you click on that it will show  the hocus focus link. click on that and you will see the link to the Newsletter.

This will be the location for all Hocus Focus Newsletters in the future and I will keep about 6 months worth. Thanks to David Price for doing a nice job laying it out and converting to a PDF for easy reading.
