about-us

The 2nd Monday of the month is our competition night.

  • Our Competition Program is available from our website.
  • There are 3 grades, Advanced, A and B. B Grade is usually for beginner photographers.
  • We have photos presented both in print form as well as Digital (EDI) option. (EDI – Electronic Data Images)
  • Both Digital and Print contests require you to enter online on this website and include a digital copy of each entry. This will be displayed in an image gallery on the website
  •  All photographs are displayed and critiqued by the judge on the night. Most judges provide very beneficial feedback, from which we all learn
  • At the end of the year we run our “Photo of the Year”competition (POTY). The photos entered in this competition must be photographs that have been entered in competitions throughout the year.

The 4th Monday of the month is our tutorial night.

  • We have had many and varied tutorials and continue to do so every month.
  • Suggestions from members as to what tutorials they would like to have are very welcome.

Visitors are always welcome to come along however visitors cannot enter any competitions until they become a member of the club. Follow the link under About us for info on joining.

Our website has been upgraded

Over the weekend all of our images and data were migrated to a new website format. It was a very big exercise! You will see a lot of changes and there are video based tutorials to help with the new format.

We’ll be using the new format at our competition tonight.

But as with many such upgrades you will also see a few teething problems. Some things simply require us to update information and there are some buttons where the links need to be connected to the right pages.

Please bear with us as we work on finalising the details. Hopefully any glitches will be working smoothly soon.

Thank you for your patience

Camera Skills Workshops 2019… we need your input for topics

We had great feedback from the Camera Skills Workshops that Mike Martin led last year.  Mike is willing to run some more this year, but before we make arrangements, book venues, line up tutors etc we would like your feedback on what you would like to learn.

Please think about it.

Would you like a rerun of the workshops last year for those who missed out… or would you like a repeat to help it all sink in?

Were there topics we ran last year that you would like to explore in more detail?

Or is there something new you would like to learn about your camera technique in a hands on environment?

We’ll want your feedback either by email to Susan (reply to the email notification is fine), or at club night next Monday.  Workshops are likely to be planned for March on Saturdays.

Thanks everyone

Lightroom Workshop – using two monitors

For those who participated in John Sharple’s Lightroom workshops… and for any other member interested…

A question came up about using Lightroom with two monitors.  John says…

Here is a link to an article describing how to use two monitors in Lightroom. https://www.creative-photographer.com/two-monitors-lightroom/
It describes a number of way to achieve this and how to use it. I have tried it on LR6 and it works so is not restricted to LR CC.
