Invitation from Maitland Camera Cub
The Maitland Camera Club will be Hosting an event for the Northern Photographic Federation at the Kurri Kurri Bowling club
Tuesday 20th of April commencing at 2:30pm
As the NPF conference will not be occurring this year due to uncertainties caused by rules surrounding Covid at the Belmont 16 footers, we have decided to put on a Mini trade show and workshop night.
Some of the Manufacturers Panasonic, Sony, Sigma, Ilford, Profoto and Nikon have indicated they will be attending and bringing along their latest gear, others may be included as we move closer.
Les porter will also be there with a comprehensive range of Paper for sale, he will also have some powered Dry Boxes with him and other photographic accessories.
It would not be an event without C R Kennedy and John Wallace. John will have a lot of equipment on display. The whole afternoon is designed to be hands on and a chance to talk to the companies directly, followed by dinner and then a comprehensive workshop on studio lighting by John. He will have triggers and some of the newer Sigma Art series lenses to fit the major brands. So we will be shooting in real time and quite a few will get the chance to have a go, Kurri Kurri bowling club has a comprehensive menu of well prepared food, however Tuesday night is normally fairly quite so they will require an idea of the numbers we are expecting for dinner. There is no cost to attend the event, but dinner is buy your own so each club MUST give me a rough idea of how many will be attending from your club. R.S.V.P by Monday 12/04/21.
This is a great chance to catch up with friends from other clubs we may not have seen for a while and to start getting back to Normal……Hope to see you there.
Regards Brad Le Brocque Mob 0415771129
If you would like to attend please contact Toni on 0417413947. RSVP by 112th April.

Portfolio tips
I hope you have all started thinking of the subject or theme for your portfolio. At our first meeting it would be great to hear the ideas of members and if possible have one or two or more of the images you were considering using on a usb stick in a folder clearly labelled.
This is going to be fairly informal evening, depending on numbers. We would like to discuss and provide ideas on editing (maybe if members would like to bring laptops, help can be provided)
Our first meeting will be a guide for how we wish to progress so I’m hoping many can join us Monday 5th April.
You may wish to print the following article as a guide for choosing your images.

Photography in your garden
What a great night we had last night. So much useful information from Cheryl Mares on flora photography . Many people wanted the name of the book Cheryl referred to : “Bloomin’ Ideas” was the one. Denise’s Gallery is definitely worth a look as there are many beautiful images.

Results PSA Interclub Photo Journalism Round 2
We came fourth in this round and are sitting in third place after two rounds. This is a good result for us as PJ is a genre our club is just getting into. A special congratulations to our only award winner this round – Brian Halse for his Penny Farthing image.

April Comp
A reminder to all our members that our April comp is coming up very fast.
Our April images are due in by 1:59pm Saturday 27th March. That gives us only 11 more days.
Unfortunately, if you miss the deadline there is nothing we can do. The images are passed onto the judge early in the morning on the day after and the competition cannot be reopened.
Please put the date in your calendar where you’ll remember.
Our next competition night is on Monday 12th April and will be at the club. There will be no zoom meeting for this comp.
Entries will again only be digitals.
We will project the images onto the screen at the club and I will read out the judges’s comments. (Unfortunately our April judge is not able to join us.)
Our set subject for April is:
Domestic Animals – The definition for “Domestic Animals” is…..
“Animals you can’t include in nature. This will include pets and farm animals , but not zoo or wild animals.“
As well as our set subject we will have are usual colour and mono categories.
Please remember that for 2021 we can now only enter 3 images each in total with no more than 2 in any category.
Our judge for September is Carol McGrath.
Carol is a new judge for our club.
Below is a bit of information about Carol that she has supplied.
I have always had an interest in visual arts, and have always had a creative side. After spending 25 years in the music industry, health issues required me to change my creative outlet. It took a while to find something that took my interest as much as music, but photography has now taken over.
I joined Belmont 16s photography club in late 2018. In 2019 in the B grade category I achieved 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in Image of the Year Nature; 1st and 3rd place in Image of the Year Mono; and 3rd, 4th and 6th in Image of the Year Open Colour. I also led the point score for this year in Open Colour and Mono, and was second in Nature.
I progressed to A grade in 2020 and came 5th in Open Colour Image of the Year, 7th place in the Nature Image of the Year, and 4th place in Mono Image of the Year. In 2020 I also took the plunge and entered some national competitions, and was awarded Highly Commended and Commended in the Mono Awards and a Commended in the Australian Photography Photographer of the Year. Early in 2021 I received an Honourable Mention in the PSA Interclub Round 1 competition.
I am currently developing my skills in portraiture and editing when I have the time. I love getting out into Nature, and I enjoy seeing what others do in the photography world. Minimalist, abstract and “something out of the ordinary” will always catch my eye.
Good luck to everyone and enjoy taking and putting together some “Domestic Animals” photos.
