About-Us

The 2nd Monday of the month is our competition night.

  • Our Competition Program is available from our website.
  • There are 3 grades, Advanced, A and Open. Open Grade is usually for beginner photographers and for those members who just enjoy taking photographs without doing extensive editing.
  • We have photos presented both in print form as well as Digital (EDI) option. (EDI – Electronic Data Images)
  • Both Digital and Print contests require you to enter online on this website and include a digital copy of each entry. This will be displayed in an image gallery on the website
  •  All photographs are displayed and critiqued by the judge on the night. Most judges provide very beneficial feedback, from which we all learn
  • At the end of the year we run our “Photo of the Year”competition (POTY). The photos entered in this competition must be photographs that have been entered in competitions throughout the year.

The 4th Monday of the month is our tutorial night.

  • We have had many and varied tutorials and continue to do so every month.
  • Suggestions from members as to what tutorials they would like to have are very welcome.

The 1st Monday of the Month is Special Interests group night

  • Members choose their own interest subject to collect 4-10 images on.
  • This is not for competition but to allow members to explore their own photography journey.

Visitors are always welcome to come along however visitors cannot enter any competitions until they become a member of the club. Follow the link under About us for info on joining.

Digital entries closing date changed.

At the committee meeting held last night we had extensive discussions about the changes that have been implemented re: digital judging now being done live on comp night.

It was decided that as the judge no longer needs time for judging and making comments that it is no longer necessary for the judges to get access to the digital entries so far in advance.

Starting with our next competition, which is our May competition, the closing date for digital entries will be the same as the closing time for the print entries. That means all of our May entries will be due by 11:59 pm on Saturday 11th May.
This is something that a few members have been requesting.
It will then be the same for all future competitions.
Thank you to David Price for making the necessary adjustments on our website.

The judges will have access to the digitals from when the competition entries close just so that they can have a brief overview before judging on the night. This will now only be 2 days as opposed to previously 2 weeks. The reason for this is that the judge no longer needs to do the judging at home, rather they will do the judging live on the night.
We are giving them the 2 days to view them if they wish as viewing the digitals on the night isn’t as easy as viewing the prints and it could make it easier to judge on the night if they’ve been able to preview them.

We hope this change of entry date will make things a lot easier for our members who have been requesting this.

Financial Position of WWCC

As I won’t be at the AGM in June, the committee has decided to outline our financial position at the moment and predicted budget outcome for the following financial year. I presented this at our meeting Monday night for those in attendance. Please email me if you have any comments or questions.

I would like to also remind members that all positions for the committee are declared vacant at the end of June, and if you would like some new blood and energy in our club, please consider nominating for a role.

Comp Night Tomorrow

Good morning,

This is just a short reminder that tomorrow night Monday 8th April is our competition night.

Don’t forget that our new starting time for comp night’s starts tomorrow night and we start at 6:30.
(Actually, if we could be ready to start by 6:25 tomorrow that would be great as Colleen has a few announcements).

It would be really appreciated if we could get our prints on the stands by 6 pm to give our judge time to have a good look. (Please remember not to put image titles on the front).
As I have previously said we do understand this may not be possible for a couple of our members.

The schedule for our competition night is as follows:

  • 6:00 PM prints will be on the stands for judge to have time for a preliminary viewing.
  • 6:30 pm our competition night will begin will the digital judging. We will have a slideshow during which the judge will announce awards and make comments.
  • 7:30 pm our digital judging will be completed and we will have a 15 minute tea/coffee break with a chance to discuss any questions arising after the print judging. Any announcements can be made during this break time.
  • 7:45 pm our print judging will begin.
  • 8:45 pm we will finish and commence packing up.

Thanks for you’re cooperation whilst we give these changes a fair trial.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow evening.

PS. If you can’t be at the meeting and have digital entries please remember to reach out to a fellow club member to make a note of comments made by our judge, Mick Lynch.
